Tax Preparation Checklist
To get ready for your appointment, please locate the following:
- Last year’s tax return (if you don’t have one, don’t worry!)
- The names, SSNs, and birth dates of your spouse and dependents
- All of your W-2s, 1099s, and other tax paperwork you’ve received
- A blank check if you’d like your refund directly deposited to your bank account
For deductions:
- Total of all medical and dental expenses for the year
- Total of child or dependent care expenses for the year
- The amount of rent or property tax you paid during the year
- Any estimated tax payments you made during the year
- List of charitable contributions made during the year
- List of educational and job-related expenses for the year
- Mileage you drove for business, medical, or charitable purposes
- A copy of your last car registration renewal notice
I will review all potential deductions, so be prepared with records related to all of your expenditures. You do not need to have receipts, but you should know where they are in case of an audit.
When you have everything, contact me to make your appointment.
